Box Score LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Stillman College women's volleyball lost to the University of West Alabama on Wednesday, 3-1, in its first trip to a Gulf South Conference gym since October 2015. It was Stillman's first road match at UWA's Pruitt Hall since 2009.
After losing the first two sets 25-21 and 25-19, Stillman jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the third set. The visiting Tigers maintained their lead throughout the set. Using a 6-0 run, Stillman grew its lead to 17-9 and then used a 6-1 run to set up set point. UWA attempted a late rally, scoring four points before an attack error gave Stillman the third set, 25-18. A 12-1 run in the fourth set allowed West Alabama to pull away en route to a 25-10 fourth set victory to close the match.Â
Brianna Moore and
Katelyn Lawson each had six kills to lead the Stillman's offense.
Erin Nelson had 12 assists.
Emily Powell led all players with nine digs.
West Alabama was led by KB Kinney's 12 kills and 11 kills by Jaida Alvin. Taylor Lamontagne had 35 assists.
Stillman (5-14, 4-5 HBCUAC) will continue its road swing with its longest trip of the season this weekend when the Tigers travel to Wilberforce University (2-18, 2-7 HBCUAC) in Ohio on Saturday, Oct. 12. The HBCU Athletic Conference East Division match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. ET.
