MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Stillman College Volleyball team traveled to face the Faulkner University Eagles in a matchup of former Southern States Athletic Conference foes Tuesday night. The Eagles walked away with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-9, 25-14) win over the Tigers in Tine Davis Gymnasium.
Stillman fell to 2-15 on the season, and Faulkner moved to 8-14 overall.
Briana Moore led with seven kills on a .313 attack percentage while adding a block and a dig.
Karen White passed nine assists, and
Kelis Conley added seven assists and led the back row with 10 digs.
Zoey Sales finished just behind her and tallied nine digs.
Gracie Fjeldstad totaled eight digs.
The Tigers opened the first set with a 3-0 lead before Faulkner responded with a four-point run to take the lead. Once the game reached 9-7 in favor of the Eagles, Stillman put together a four-point streak to go up 11-9. After a kill from
Erin Nelson and a service ace from
Shelby Morris moved the score to 13-10, the Eagles scored eight of the next nine points in the game to take an 18-14 advantage, and went on to a 25-18 set win.
Faulkner controlled the second set, but not before a kill from
Katelyn Lawson forced the score to 2-2. However, the Eagles outscored Stillman 23-7 throughout the remainder of the game to claim it, 25-9.
The third took a similar start to the second set with
Domineshia Jones evening the game at 2-2 with a kill. The Eagles went up 4-2, but the Tigers responded with a four-point steam to go up 6-3 after a kill from Moore. Later, a kill from
Paige Eason extended the lead to 9-6. However, from this point, Faulkner took control and outscored Stillman 19-5 to claim a 25-14 victory in the set and finish a 3-0 sweep of the match.
Stillman College returns home Saturday, Oct. 25, for Tiger Fan Fest '25. Festivities start at 3 p.m. at Birthright Alumni Hall and the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference clash against Rust College begins at 6 p.m.
