SHREVEPORT, La. – The 2026 HBCUAC Track and Field Outdoor Championships wrapped up on Friday afternoon, with both Stillman programs placing sixth as a team. The Tigers landed on the podium 17 times over the two-day meet, with freshman
Sendia Cobite highlighting the weekend with three top-three finishes on the women's side.
Cobite set a new PR in the women's hammer with a mark of 36.51m (119' 9") to take second, while teammate
Taylor Hopgood (25.57m/83' 10") followed in sixth place. The duo took third and fourth respectively in the discus, as Cobite's fourth attempt landed at 29.48m (96' 8"), and Hopgood's mark stood at 28.65m (94').
The Stillman women shined in the shot put, as Cobite's second-place mark of 10.80m (35' 5 ¼") set a new personal best and led the way for the Tigers. Hopgood (10.31m/33' 10") came in fourth while
Kerrigan Clark (9.39m/30' 9 ¾") took eighth to give the Tigers three of the top eight in the event.
Cobite (17.15m/56' 3") made her season debut in the javelin and added an 11th-place finish, with Hopgood (16.98m/55' 8") earning 12th. As the lone Stillman competitor in the women's long jump,
Jada Walker came away with 14th place, doing so behind a mark of 4.06m (13' 4").
Makiyah Thurman (12.85) and Walker (13.08) placed 11th and 17th respectively in the women's 100. Thurman (26.74) and Walker (27.07) again represented the Tigers in the 200, placing 11th and 14th.
For the Stillman men,
Kentrell Bonner came away with a toss of 44.83m (147' 1") on his final attempt, while teammate
Demetrius Williams (36.12m/118' 6") turned in a career-best mark to give Stillman two All-Conference Team honorees.
Cameron Washington (29.99m/98' 4") and
Kenneth Richardson II (26.38m/86' 6") placed 10th and 17th respectively in the same event.
Carey Owens' mark of 14.05m (46' 1 ¼") in the men's triple jump earned him sixth place, while Bonner followed in seventh with a new career-best of 13.51m (44' 4'). Con'darius McCorvey (12.32m/40' 5") landed in 11th, while Richardson (11.96m/39' 3") took home 13th before adding a 16th-place finish (5.23m/17' 2") in the men's long jump.
Caleb Washington had a busy two days for the Tigers, placing fifth in the men's hammer, (33.50m/109' 11"), sixth in the discus (31.66m/103' 10"), and seventh in the shot put (10.49m/34' 5") to earn a trio of All-Conference honors. Freshman
Demetrius Williams followed in two of those three, coming in ninth in the hammer (22.14m/72' 7") and 14th in the shot put (8.55m/28' ¾").
On the track,
Majesty Folds (2:11.06) picked up 11th in the men's 800, while Jordan Lewis (2:24.19) finished in 14th. The same duo represented Stillman in the 1500, as well, with Folds (5:07.01) again taking 11th and Lewis (5:13.52) earning 13th.
The men's 4x100 relay team of Bonner, McCorvey, Owens and
Cameron Washington teamed up for a time of 45.17, enough to earn eighth place. In the 4x800, Folds, Lewis, McCorvey and Richardson turned in a combined mark of 9:51.21, closing out the event in fifth place.
