MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Stillman cross country teams participated in the Montevallo Falcon Classic on Friday evening, with the women running a 5K race and the men running an 8K.
Freshman Makiyah Thurman led the way for the Tiger women in her collegiate debut, turning in a time of 29:55.50. Sophomore
Sarah Gordon (31:07.50) was the next Stillman runner across the finish, while Jada Walker (32:27.94) made her college debut, as well.
On the men's side, the Tigers finished in 14th as a team. Two freshmen, Breland Armstead (29:28.29) and Con'darius McCorvey (29:32.02) finished within four seconds of one another, with both setting new career-bests.
Kenneth Richardson II (36:18:23) followed, while
Kentrell Bonner (42:21.76) narrowly held off teammate
Cedric Taylor (42:25.15). Jaylin Shepherd rounded out the scoring for Stillman, doing so with a time of 46:21.52.
Both Stillman cross country teams are back in action on September 20, when they head to Danville to take part in the Firehawks Invitational.
