OAKVILLE, Ala. - Stillman College senior
Amos Metto became the first Stillman College student-athlete to become an All-Conference selection in the HBCU Athletic Conference on Friday, Oct. 18 when he finished third at the HBCUAC Men's Cross Country Championships at Oakville Indian Mounds.
Metto completed the race with a time of 29:58.00 to finish third individually and qualify for the NAIA National Championships. He is Stillman's third men's cross country runner in the last four years to qualify for the NAIA championships.
Stillman also finished third as a team behind Tougaloo and Wiley University.
Wiley's Javoun Goldsby won the championship with a time of 29:09.70, followed closely by Tougaloo College's JaDarrius Nelson, 29:10.30.
Kenneth Beck Jr was 15th overall and second for Stillman with a 32:27.20, while
Kenneth Richardson II ran a 34:16.30 to finish 21st.
DeMarco Allen was Stillman's fourth runner, finishing in 35:13.20.
Ta'Jairus Brown as 37th (37:04.10), followed by
Cedric Taylor in 40th (37:44.10) and
Joshua Ashhurst (43rd,38:08.00).Â
Metto will travel to Columbia, Missouri for the 69th annual NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championships on Nov. 22.Â
