MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Stillman College's conference champions
Willie Washington and
Amos Metto were honored recently as Southern States Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference selections for their finish in the 2023 SSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Washington, a senior from Isabella, Alabama, repeated as the SSAC shot put champion on April 22 with a 13.76m throw after winning the event in 2022 and finishing runner-up in 2021. He finished fourth as a freshman in 2019.
Metto, a sophomore from Kenya, won the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 10:30.20 in his first intercollegiate attempt at the event.
The duo combined for 24 of Stillman College's 38 team points, helping the Tigers to a sixth-place team finish.
Four Stillman student-athletes were also named SSAC All-Academic, which honors those who are a sophomore or higher with a 3.25 grade point average or better. Those who meet the criteria are
Emmanuel Kipruto,
Christopher Johnson,
Cameron Washington and
Willie Washington.
Kipruto was also named Stillman's selection to the SSAC Champions of Character Team.
