Willie Washington and
Amos Metto each won Southern States Athletic Conference Men's Track & Field individual titles for Stillman College on April 22.
Washington, a senior from Isabella, Alabama, repeated as the SSAC shot put champion with a 13.76m throw after winning the event in 2022 and finishing runner-up in 2021. He finished fourth as a freshman in 2019.Â
Metto, a sophomore from Kenya, won the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 10:30.20 in his first intercollegiate attempt at the event.Â
The duo combined for 24 of Stillman College's 38Â team points, helping the Tigers to a sixth-place team finish. Washington was also eighth in the men's discus throw and Metto was seventh in the 1500m run (4:32.88) and part of an eighth-place finish in the 4x800m relay (9:42.59).Â
The Tigers' post points came in the discus throw shot put, as
Caleb Washington followed Willie with a sixth-place throw of 12.33m and Johnson was seventh at 12.10m. Johnson was also fifth in the discus throw.Â
Bonner also scored a point for the Tigers with an eighth-place finish in the triple jump (12.22m).Â
