JACKSON, Miss. - Stillman College men's outdoor track and field posted 10 Top 8 finishes for an impressive showing at the Belhaven University Invitational on Saturday.
Distance runner
Amos Metto won the 5000m run, while thrower
Willie Washington won the shot put and placed second in the discus throw to lead the Tigers.
Washington won the shot put with a mark of 14.02m (46 feet) and set a personal record in the discus of 37.92m.
Christopher Johnson had a season-best 38-00.50 feet to finish fourth in the shot and
Caleb Washington was fifth in the throw at 37-03 feet.
Ka'Mari Webb was also a top finisher for the Tigers, placing second in the 110m hurdles in 15.51.
Kenneth Richardson II placed fifth in the triple jump (11.78m) and
Kentrell Bonner was eighth in the long jump with a collegiate personal best 5.93m.
While Metto missed the Top 8 in the 1500m by one spot, he improved his time by more than 10 seconds.
Other top finishes on the track included a seventh-place finish for
Carey Owens in the 200m (22.37) and a fifth-place finish in the 4x100m Relay with Webb, Owens,
Cameron Washington and Johnson.
Stillman is next scheduled to compete March 31-April 1 at UAB.
