TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Stillman College's Elvis Chebogel will compete for the 2022 NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championship on Friday, Nov. 18 at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida. The 67th Annual Men's Cross Country National Championship 8K race will begin at 7:30 a.m. CST.

Chebogel is one of 78 individuals, who will join 36 teams to compete in the race. This is his second time representing Stillman at the NAIA National Championship, after competing in Vancouver, Washington last November.
A native of Kapsabet, Kenya, Chebogel qualified for the national meet with a runner-up finish at the Southern States Athletic Conference Championship on Nov. 4. His personal best time 26:22.4 at the SSAC Championship makes him the third-fastest among SSAC runners this season.
Last season, Chebogel qualified for his first NAIA Championship 8K after a sixth-place finish at the SSAC and ran a 27:42.4 in rainy conditions and upper 40-degree weather.
This year's race conditions will also be chilly with pre-race temperatures in Tallahassee forecasted at 38 degrees and warming to 45 degrees by the end of the race.
Championship festivities will begin Thursday night with the Student-Athlete Experience Event at Florida State University's Doak Campbell Stadium. The cross country course at Apalachee Regional Park will open at 6:30 a.m. EST with the race beginning at 8:30 a.m. EST / 7:30 a.m. CST, followed by the women's race. Awards will be presented at 11 a.m. EST.
Senzo Sokhela of Westmont (Calif.) will enter this year's championship race with the top time in 2022, winning the Golden State Athletic Conference on Nov. 5 with a time of 23: 45.6. The NAIA meet record for the 8k is 23:14.0 set by Silah Misoi of Life (Ga.) in 1996.
