Men’s Basketball Brings Home HBCUAC All-Conference Honors

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – After bringing home the 2024-25 HBCU Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship, the Stillman College men's basketball team has garnered all-conference accolades as Calvin Finch Jr., head coach John Teasley and assistant coach Montego Hoskins all earned post season awards.

Finch was named All-HBCUAC First Team and to the All-Defensive Team. The 6-foot-6 senior from York, Alabama, was a menace defensively and averaged 1.3 blocks per game with a total of 33 blocks for the season with more shots affected by his presence. His block total was seventh best in the league. He also finished fourth in the conference after shooting 61.1 percent (146-of-239) from the floor.

Alongside leading the Tigers in blocks, Finch led the squad with 13.3 points per game and 9.5 rebounds. He tied for the team lead in steals per game at 1.1.

For their efforts in guiding the Tigers to a 17-10 overall record and 14-4 record in HBCUAC competition, Teasley earned HBCUAC Coach of the Year and Hoskins was named HBCUAC Assistant Coach of the Year.

Under the guidance of Teasley and Hoskins, Stillman held opponents to 69.9 points per game, which was fourth best in the conference. The Tigers were also fourth in rebound margin with an average of 33.9 boards per game.

The team started the season 0-4 before putting together a seven-game winning streak on the way to claiming a share of the HBCUAC Regular Season championship.

Stillman College returns to action in the quarterfinals of the HBCUAC 2025 Hope Credit Union Basketball Championships hosted in Birthright Alumni Hall on Feb. 28 at 8 p.m. The opponent is still to be determined, but the Tigers will face the winner between the University of the Virgin Islands and Wiley University.
