Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Chris Megginson

Second half comeback keeps Tigers’ win streak alive

DALLAS – The Stillman College men's basketball team overcame an 18-point halftime deficit on Thursday night, defeating Paul Quinn College 64-61. Dasean Sellers and Brandon Howard led the way for the Tigers, combining for 33 points and 16 rebounds.

Stillman improves to 17-10 on the season and has now won seven straight games dating back to January 22.

Rapid Recap:
PQC began the night on fire, shooting 75% from the floor over the first five minutes to start the game on an 11-2 run. With Deon McLaughlin's 15 first-half points leading the way, PQC maintained momentum, carrying a 45-27 advantage into the locker room at the intermission.

Stillman clawed their way back into the game, starting the second half on a 16-4 run to cut the deficit down to three. Jordan Fordyce knocked down a pair of free throws with 12:31 remaining to give the Tigers their first lead of the night, and Stillman matched their first-half production with more than a quarter of the game still left to play.

The two teams went back and forth for the duration of the game, but a layup from Dasean Sellers put Stillman up 64-61 with just under two minutes on the clock. Paul Quinn got four more shots off from that point, all from behind the arc, but failed to connect, giving the Tigers the comeback win.

Notes and Numbers:
  • Sellers played all 40 minutes on Thursday night, marking the sixth time this season he has played at least that many.
  • Sellers and McLaughlin matched one another for a game-high 20 points.
  • After connecting on just 37% from the floor in the first half, the Tigers hit 50% in the second half.
