CARROLLTON, Ga. - Chris Johnson hurled a pair of personal records in the discus and shot put over the weekend to lead Stillman College to a 12th place finish in the men's outdoor track & field University of West Georgia Legends Invitational.
Johnson won the discus for the second time this season with a throw better than 50 meters. His 50.63m throw topped his NAIA A-standard time from March 15 at the University of Montevallo. He now sits fifth in the NAIA discus performers list. He then added to his point total with a fifth-place shot put of 14.06m to score 14 team points in the meet.
Stillman also scored nine points in the 400-meter run, as Kenneth Beck Jr. finished fourth with a personal record 49.79 and
Carey Owens was fifth at 49.82.
Emmanuel Kipruto ran his season-best in the 1500-meter run at 16:55.29. It was his best time since the 2022 Southern States Athletic Conference Championship.
The Tigers also had personal records in the discus from
Caleb Washington (33.31m), shot put from Evan Wyckoff (10.93m), and Joshua Ashhurst had a PR in the 400m (55.77).
In the women's meet, Malaiya Mathews represented Stillman in the 400m for the first time this season, finishing 20th in 1:03.32.
