Mathews Leads Stillman at SSAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships

GULF SHORES, Ala. - Malaiya Mathews paced Stillman College to a tenth place finish at the Southern States Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships on April 23.

Mathews contributed to all 13 team points for the Tigers with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump (11.10m) and fifth-place 100-meter hurdles time of 15.17. She also anchored the 4x100m relay to a fifth-place finish. Kiera Fuqua-Brown, Jayla Hayward-Wells, La'Diamond Landrum and Mathews combined for a time of 54.78.

In the 100m hurdles, Matthews shaved more than a second off her 16.48 prelim time from Monday.

William Carey University scored 299 points to win the team championship, followed by Life University's 169 points and Loyola New Orleans' 100 points.
