OAKVILLE, Ala. - Stillman College freshman Celestine Jepkegei made her collegiate debut to lead the Tigers to a seventh-place team finish at the HBCU Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Championships at Oakville Indian Mounds on Friday, Oct. 18.
Jepkegie ran a 28:57.73 in the 6K race to finish 12th individually.
London Wooley also made her Stillman cross country debut, finishing 30th overall and second for Stillman in 34:33.38.
Jaiaa Sims was on her tail with a time of 34:36.57 to finish 31st. Freshman
Sarah Gordon ran a 37:04.48 in her first HBCUAC Championship, while fellow freshman
Kerrigan Clark was 45th with a time of 40:42.82.
Senior runner
Kiera Fuqua-Brown closed her collegiate cross country career with a time of 40:52.54.
Dillard University placed four runners in the Top 10 to win the team championships, while Tougaloo College was second with two Top 10 runners. The Bulldogs' Ta'Mya Sims and Herlancia Miller qualified for the NAIA Championships. Talladega College was third, led by NAIA qualifier Jewell Cross. Philander Smith University's Ja'Neisha Collins on the individual championship to reach the NAIA Championships with a time of 26:04.02.
The championship event concludes Stillman's women's cross country season.
