Lathan leads Tigers to sixth place at HBCUAC meet

DANVILLE, Ala. – The Stillman women's cross country team competed in the HBCUAC Championship on Saturday, turning in a sixth-place finish as a group. The 6K event featured all nine HBCUAC teams and was held at Oakville Indian Mounds Park in northern Alabama.

Talladega took home the conference crown with all five finishers inside the top ten, including individual champion Jewel Cross (25:27.4). The Tornadoes will receive the league's automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships in November.
Freshman Tanyzia Lathan highlighted the day for Stillman, picking up 17th place behind a time of 31:06.47. Teammate Sarah Gordon set a new PR with a mark of 34:51.73, finishing her day in 32nd individually.
Makiyah Thurman (36:43.14) was the next Tiger across the finish, while Jada Walker (36:53.28) followed with a new PR to grab 43rd place. Jaiaa Sims rounded out the scoring for Stillman, doing so with a time of 42:23.80.
