NEW ORLEANS - Stillman College freshman outfielder
Makynli Kidd was named the
HBCU Athletic Conference Softball Freshman of the Week the conference announced Monday, April 20.
Making her first start since Feb. 21, Kidd hit 5-for-7 in Saturday's doubleheader wins at Voorhees University. She scored four runs and drove in four runs. In the second-game of the day, she had a career-high three hits and four RBI. The freshman from West Blocton, Alabama is hitting .279 for the season with eight RBI and 20 runs scored. She has played in 32 games and started 14 games.
Kidd's performance helped the Tigers complete their sixth-consecutive sweep of HBCUAC teams and extend Stillman's conference win streak to 19 games. Stillman (23-18, 19-2), finishes the regular season tied for first place in the HBCU Athletic Conference. The Tigers will stay home this coming week as they prepare to compete in the Hope Credit Union HBCUAC Softball Championships, April 25-28, at River Run Park in Northport, Alabama.
