DENMARK, S.C. - Stillman College Softball jumped out to an 8-1 lead Sunday morning before the regular season finale was halted due to injury. With only eight players available, Voorehees University went on to forfeit the game, which will be recorded as a 7-0 Stillman victory. No stats from Sunday's game will count.
The win completes a three-game series sweep for Stillman College, which concludes the regular season with a 19-0 run against HBCU Athletic Conference opponents and 19-2 overall in conference play. The Tigers sit tied atop the HBCUAC standings with Dillard University, who won two of three games over Stillman in February.
Nineteen conference wins is tied for the third-most in Stillman's program history, matching the NCAA Division II 2013 Stillman team that finished 19-7 in the Southern Intercollegiate Ahletic Conference (SIAC). The 2012 Tigers were 23-3 in conference action, and the 2006 Stillman team was 21-10 against SIAC teams.
Stillman (23-18, 19-2) will be the No. 2 seed in the Hope Credit Union HBCU Athletic Conference Softball Championship, which will be hosted by Visit Tuscaloosa and the City of Northport at River Run Park in Northport, Alabama from April 25-28. The tournament bracket will be released early this week by the conference.
