NEW ORLEANS - Stillman College senior
Avary Lumpkin was named the HBCU Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week on Monday, March 15. This is her first HBCUAC weekly honor of the season, and the second for Stillman College.
The Tallasee, Alabama native hit .714 and slugged 1.714 ina three-game sweep of Oakwood University March 14-15. She hit two home runs and finished the three games with eight runs batted in and five runs scored.
Lumpkin leads Stillman with a .712 slugging percentage and is second on the team with a .379 batting average through 25 games. Her 25 RBI, seven doubles and five home runs also lead the Tigers' offense. All of her home runs have come in the last 10 games, including three in the last five games against HBCUAC teams.
Among HBCUAC hitters, Lumpkin leads the conference in home runs, is second in doubles and has the sixth-best batting average.
Defensively, she has a .982 fielding percentage in 163 chances at first base.
Stillman (9-16, 7-2) will carry a six-game win streak on the road to the U.S. Sports University in Daphne, Alabama on Tuesday, March 17 before hosting Rust College for a three-game series March 21-22.
