NORTHPORT, Ala. – The Stillman College softball team hosted Blue Mountain Christian University for a second doubleheader at the newly built River Run Park. The visiting Toppers once again won the day with a sweep over the Tigers, 11-0 and 12-1, Saturday afternoon.
In the first contest, the Stillman (0-4) outfield collected both hits for the team as center fielder
Alex Erwin hit 1-for-2 with a walk, and right fielder
Makyleigh Hollinger went 1-for-2.
Faith Byram pitched 1.2 innings and surrendered three walks, a hit, and an earned run.
Karli Crocker threw 2.1 innings of relief with eight hits, a pair of walks, and two earned runs.
Jasmine Wade went an inning, registered a strikeout, and allowed two hits, a couple of walks, and a pair of earned runs.
BMCU erupted for a seven-run second before putting the game away with two runs in the fourth and fifth on the way to the 11-0 win.
Kaila Boyd accounted for the only hit in game two for the Tigers as she went 1-for-1 with an RBI to score Ewrin.
Michaela Otts pitched 5.1 innings, struck out two batters, but allowed 13 hits, nine earned runs, and two walks.
Jazlynn Sulton went 0.2 innings with two walks, two earned runs, and a hit given up.
The Toppers posted two runs each in the second, fourth, and fifth innings before putting five runs on the board in the sixth.
In the bottom of the sixth, Ewin worked her way around the bases to get into position to score from second from Boyd's single to right center and avoid the shutout.
Stillman College prepares for a three-date, six-game road trip, starting Tuesday at 1 p.m. in a doubleheader against NCAA Division II opponent Tuskegee (Ala.) University.
