TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Stillman College softball team spent the day on the road against NCAA Division II opponent, the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers. The trip was not a good one for the Tigers as Stillman lost both contests, 4-0 and 8-5, on Tuesday afternoon.
Game One - Tuskegee 4, Stillman 0
The designated player,
Anna Sullivan, garnered the only hit of the contest for Stillman and went 1-for-3 at the plate.
Katelyn Lankford was hit-by-pitch to represent a base runner for the Tigers.
Karli Crocker pitched all six defensive innings for Stillman, threw two strikeouts, but allowed eight hits and four earned runs.
Tuskegee posted two runs in the first and a run each in the fourth and fifth to secure the 4-0 win.
Game Two - Tuskegee 8, Stillman 5
The bats were hot for the Tigers in the second game, led by a 2-for-4 effort with two RBIs and a double by
Alex Erwin.
Lily Stone hit 3-for-5 with an RBI,
Jazlynn Sulton posted a 3-for-4 effort with a double, and Makunli Kidd rounded out the multi-hit performances, going 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
Olivia Hobson and
Kaila Boyd both hit doubles.
Faith Byram (0-2) pitched six innings with a strikeout but allowed nine hits, eight earned runs, and three walks.
The Golden Tigers came out strong with four runs in the bottom of the first.
Kidd got Stillman on the board with a groundout to second base, which helped Boyd score. Erwin followed with an RBI single to bring home Sulton, cutting the score to 4-2.
Tuskegee responded with a run in the second and two more in the third moved the tally to 7-2.
The Tigers attempted to rally in the fourth with an RBI single from Stone and knocked in Kidd.
Avary Lumpkin then hit a single to right center to help
Addison Nuspl score.
Stillman added a run in the fifth with an Erwin double to left field, which helped Kidd score for a second time, bringing the Tigers within two runs at 7-5.
However, the Golden Tigers added a run in the bottom of the fifth, sealing an 8-5 and sweeping the day.
