Stillman outlasts Fisk, Jones leads the way

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Behind a dominant all-around night from Mya Jones, Stillman Women's Basketball picked up a gritty 49-43 road win over Fisk on Thursday at Henderson A. Johnson Arena.

Jones delivered the spark all game, finishing with 21 points and 10 rebounds on 10-of-15 shooting, accounting for nearly half of Stillman's scoring while setting the tone on the glass. Stillman won the rebounding battle 46-35, using second-chance opportunities and steady half-court defense to pull away late.bThe Tigers weathered an early push from Fisk and responded with poise after trailing 12-11 at the end of the first quarter. Stillman edged in front by halftime, 24-23, then continued to build momentum coming out of the break, taking a 38-35 lead into the fourth.

Stillman's best stretch came in winning time. With the game tight and momentum swinging, the Tigers made the key plays down the stretch, outscoring Fisk 11-8 in the fourth quarter and stretching the lead to as many as seven late. The contest featured nine lead changes and was tied five times, but Stillman's composure and rebounding presence proved decisive in the final minutes.

Stillman also received valuable support across the rotation. Jaida Minter added eight points, six rebounds, and three steals, while Jordan Harris chipped in six points and six boards. Tyeesha Slaughter filled the stat sheet with six points, seven rebounds, and four assists, helping the Tigers maintain pace and control possessions in a physical matchup.

Up Next: Stillman hits the road on January 17th to Wilberforce with a 1:00pm tip off time.
