WILBERFORCE, Ohio – Jordan Harris finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds, but Stillman could not close the gap late in a 65-53 loss to Wilberforce (OH) on Friday afternoon at Gaston F. Lewis Arena.
Stillman (7-7, 4-2) got a strong lift from Mya Jones, who scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Chayce Matthews added 10 points to round out the Tigers' top scorers.
The Tigers came out sharp and briefly held the lead in the opening quarter before Wilberforce took an 18-16 edge after one. Stillman stayed within reach in the second period and went into halftime down 35-30.
Wilberforce created separation in the third quarter, outscoring Stillman 13-9 to push the margin to nine entering the fourth. Stillman continued to battle and made a late push, trimming the deficit to eight in the final minutes, but could not get closer down the stretch.
Wilberforce (3-10, 2-5) was led by Makaia Smith with 14 points. Laniya Early and Constance Chaplin added 12 points each.
Stillman returns home Tuesday, Jan. 20, welcoming Oakwood University for a 5:30 p.m. tip in Birthright Alumni Hall.
