TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Stillman women's basketball held Oakwood University to 14 second-half points and pulled away late for a 52-42 victory Tuesday evening in Tuscaloosa.
Jordan Harris led the Tigers with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting and added seven rebounds in 39 minutes. Mya Jones followed with 12 points and seven rebounds while stuffing the stat sheet with four assists and two blocks. Off the bench, Jaida Minter provided a lift on both ends with 11 points and four steals in 24 minutes.
Oakwood carried a 28-23 advantage into halftime after opening the game with a 17-point first quarter, but Stillman's defense flipped the momentum coming out of the break. The Tigers limited Oakwood to 6-of-33 shooting across the third and fourth quarters and forced key turnovers that fueled their transition attack.
Stillman outscored Oakwood 14-7 in the third quarter to take a 37-35 lead into the final period, then closed the game with a 15-7 fourth quarter. The Tigers built the margin to double digits in the final minutes and held Oakwood scoreless from the field for long stretches down the stretch. As a team, Stillman finished with 17 assists and nine steals while holding Oakwood to 26.6% shooting (17-of-64) and just 2-of-22 from three-point range. Oakwood was led by Trenisha Adams with 18 points.
