Haskins and Wade Bring Home HBCUAC Weekly Honors

NEW ORLEANS – After sweeping the weekend, the Stillman College softball team has brought home both softball weekly awards from the HBCU Athletic Conference as Lauren Haskins has been named Player of the Week and Jasmine Wade has been named Pitcher of the Week.

Haskins, a native of Alabaster, Alabama, wins the award for the third time this season after she turned in another terrific weekend. Haskins posted a .615 batting average with eight runs scored, five RBIs, two stolen bases, two triples, two doubles, and a home run. She posted a 1.231 slugging percentage and racked up 16 total bases. Defensively, she was perfect playing both shortstop and left field.

So far this season, Haskins is hitting .437 with a .488 on-base percentage and a .768 slugging percentage. She's collected 23 steals, six triples, four home runs, and two doubles.

Wade, a native of Harvest, Alabama, is winning Pitcher of the Week for the first time this season after being dominant in HBCUAC action this weekend against Voorhees. She posted four strikeouts and allowed just two hits in the fifth inning on the first day. She came in a relief appearance Sunday and struck out eight batters. Wade was 2-0 and pitched 9.2 innings.

On the season, Wade has posted a 7-1 record, 3.95 ERA, and 35 strikeouts in 55 innings of work. She has a 1.27 WHIP and a 4.45 strikeout per seven-innings rate.

Stillman College returns to action Saturday, March 29, at 11 a.m. in a doubleheader against the second-place team in the HBCUAC in the Dillard University Bleu Devils.
