NEW ORLEANS – For their efforts during an extended weekend against Blue Mountain Christian University, the Stillman College softball team had two players receive weekly awards from the HBCU Athletic Conference.
Lauren Haskins won Hitter of the Week, while newcomer
Avary Lumpkin earned Pitcher of the Week.
Haskins, the 2025 Preseason Player of the Year, hit .615 to open the weekend against Southern States Athletics Conference opponent Blue Mountain. She stole eight bases over the weekend, including three games with multiple steals. She posted an on-base percentage of .643 and a slugging percentage of .615.
The senior from Alabaster, Alabama season numbers have moved to a .545 batting average with 12 hits, eight stolen bases, six runs scored, four RBIs and a home run. She currently has a .682 slugging percentage and a .565 on-base percentage.
Lumpkin threw a complete game and allowed on three hits and one earned run against BMCU. She struck out two batters and limited the Lady Toppers to a .130 batting average in her season debut in the circle.
The native of Tallasee, Alabama currently boasts a 1-0 record with a 4.32 ERA and a pair of strikeouts in 11.1 innings of work.
The Stillman College softball team returns to the road for the William Carey University invite in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The Lady Tigers face Georgetown College on Friday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. and William Carey at 6 p.m. the same day.
