Patterson, Eason Lead Stillman on Day 1 of Talladega Tournament

TALLADEGA, Ala. - Stillman College women's volleyball opened the 2024 season Friday morning at the Talladega College Tournament, falling in three sets to non-conference foes Point University and Johnson University (Tenn.). 

Stillman lost the first match to its former Southern States Athletic Conference foe Point University, 25-12, 25-10, 25-15. The second set saw higher point totals for Stillman despite falling 25-7, 25-16 and 25-17 to Johnson.

Raine Patterson led Stillman with five kills and a .500 hitting percentage in the opener. She followed with five kills and a .714 percentage against the Johnson Royals. 
Brianna Moore scored 4.5 points against Point with three kills, a solo block and block assist. She added a block assist against JU. 

Paige Eason, a transfer from Rust College, posted six kills to lead Stillman's offense against Johnson. Ava Cameron added four. 

Erin Nelson's five digs led the Stillman defense in the first match, while Kaitlyn Lawson had four. Hailie DeLoach had a team-high 11 digs against Johnson, with Eason stopping seven attacks. 

Nine Tigers scored points on the day. 

Stillman College (0-2) will return to action Saturday morning with an 8 a.m. match against Truett-McConnell and then Life University at noon.
