MOBILE, Ala. - Stillman College battled back from a 6-0 loss Friday afternoon to take the second game over No. 15 University of Mobile, 2-1, to complete a season split (2-2) against the Rams. It is the fourth Top 25 victory of the season for Stillman (31-9, 15-9).
The Tigers sit fourth in the Southern States Athletic Conference standings entering the final day of the regular season Saturday, April 27. Stillman will travel to No. 18 William Carey University for a 1 p.m. doubleheader with the SSAC regular season championship on the line for the Crusaders.
GAME 1: No. 15 MOBILE 6, STILLMAN 0
Both teams' leadoff hitters reached on a double in the first inning.
Lauren Haskins was thrown out at the plate in a double play to end the first inning for Stillman, but Mobile was able to push its leadoff batter around for a 1-0 lead when  Caitlin McRee's sacrifice fly to right field to score Erin Degruise. The score remained unchanged until Mobile added five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, including a three-run home run by starting pitcher Emily Butts (12-6). Butts threw a complete-game, five-hit shutout for the win.Â
Lauren Haskins hit 2-for-4 in the game, while
Taylor Roland,
Bailie Seales and
Ivey Moreland each had one hit.
Madison Bubel and Karli Davidson had one walk apiece.Â
Lexi McCray (14-2) allowed 12 hits and a season-high six earned runs. She issued one walk.Â
GAME 2: STILLMAN 2, No. 15 MOBILE 1
Lauren Haskins was hit by a pitch to lead off the top of the third inning and later scored on a sacrifice fly by
Madison Bubel to give Stillman a 1-0 lead.Â
Mobile tied the game in the fifth inning, but
Bailie Seales delivered the game-winning hit with two outs in the top of the seventh to drive home Haskins.Â
Jasmine Wade allowed five hits and one unearned run in the complete-game win.Â
