GAME 1: STILLMAN 3, WILLIAMS BAPTIST 0
A pair of home runs were the highlight in the first game, as
Karlie Davidson and
Lauren Haskins each hit solo home runs in the bottom of the third inning. Haskins later manufactured an insurance run in the fifth inning when she beat out a bunt single and stole both second and third. The throw to third was dropped and Haskins then took off for home, sliding in under the tag.
Davidson's home run was her first home run of the season. Haskins now has four home runs on the season, including two in the last four home games.
Lexi McCray (5-0) allowed three hits and one hit batter in her third complete-game shutout. She lowered her season ERA to 0.44. The senior from Brookwood, Alabama also received help from her defense, which saw diving catches from
Carolyn Carter and
Madison Bubel. The game came to an end on a double play.
GAME 2: STILLMAN 3, WILLIAMS BAPTIST 2
Stillman's offense was front loaded in the first inning. Haskins beat out an infield hit to lead off the bottom of the first inning and sparked a three-run inning. Bubel, Carter and Davidson each drove in one run in the inning.
Williams Baptist left the bases loaded in the top of the second, but the Eagles produced two runs in the top of the third. Natalia Watkins singled to start the inning and scored on a Megan Petty RBI single. Kennedy Johnson made it a one-run game, 3-2, when her sac fly drove home Petty.
Stillman's defense preserved the lead in the fourth. After a line drive to Bubel at third, Maddi Alenthal reached base on a bunt single, however
Anniston Jones threw her out stealing second to set up a pop fly to end the inning. Carter's defense shined again in the top of the sixth, making a diving snag for the second out of the inning.
The Tigers added three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Carter doubled in the first run and the last two scored on errors as part of a
Sara Kate Nichols two-out single up the middle.
Faith Byram (4-0) recorded the win.
