Stillman Softball Sweeps SSAC Series at Thomas

THOMASVILLE, Ga. - Lexi McCray (12-0) recorded a win and save in the circle Friday afternoon to lift Stillman College to a Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep at Thomas University, 4-2 and 5-2.

Lauren Haskins hit 5-for-8 on the day with five runs scored, while Ivey Moreland and Tayor Roland each had four hits and Bailie Seales had three hits on the day.

GAME 1: STILLMAN 4, THOMAS 2

After allowing a run in the bottom of the first inning and leaving three runners on base through the first two innings, Stillman evened the score, 1-1, in the top of the third. Lauren Haskins beat out an infield single and stole second before advancing to third on a pop fly. Ivey Moreland delivered a one-out single to score Haskins.

Thomas took a 2-1 lead with a sac fly in the bottom of the third inning. Stillman responded but left two on base in the fourth and eventually tied the game on an RBI ground ball by Savannah Pearce. Bailie Seales singled in Moreland for a 3-2 lead.

Madison Bubel singled in a run in the top of the sixth, scoring Taylor Roland to extend the lead, 4-2.

Stillman left 10 runners on base, but the Tiger defense also stranded runners. Thomas loaded the bases in the sixth inning and had two on in the seventh before McCray pitched out of the jams for her 12th victory.

GAME 2: STILLMAN 5, THOMAS 2

Lauren Haskins hit 4-for-4 and scored four runs to pace Stillman to its second conference doubleheader sweep of the season. Her leadoff double to start the game set up an Ivey Moreland RBI single to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

In the third inning, Haskins reached base on a one-out single and scored on a wild throw after Taylor Roland beat out a bunt single.

Thomas tied the game, 2-2, with a two-run home run by K Hardy in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Haskins once again singled to start an inning and stole second before advancing to third on a Moreland single. Madison Bubel then singled her home for the eventual winning run in the top of the fifth inning.

Jasmine Wade (5-2) exited the game after five innings, allowing three hits, two walks and two runs. Lexi McCray allowed two hits through two scoreless innings to earn the save.

The Tigers added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh with an RBI ground out by Bubel and RBI single by and Bailie Seales
