MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - Stillman College softball recorded its fifth-straight Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader split on Monday, beating Brewton-Parker College 4-1 before losing the second game, 6-4.
Stillman (23-5, 7-5 SSAC) is scheduled to travel to Thomas University on Friday, March 29 at noon ET.
GAME 1: STILLMAN 4, BREWTON-PARKER 1
Bailie Seales and
Sara Kate Nichols each singled in runs in the top of the first inning. Seales, who hit 3-for-3 in the game, singled to start the fourth inning and scored on an
Anniston Jones single to stretch Stillman's lead to 3-0.
Lauren Haskins made it a 4-0 game when she beat out a bunt single in the top of the fifth. She stole second and moved to third on an error before stealing home.
Brewton-Parker's lone run in the game came on a sac fly in the bottom of the fifth.
Haskins hit 2-for-4 in the game.
Taylor Roland, Jones and Nichols each had one hit for Stillman.
Lexi McCray improved to 11-0 in the circle to sit at fourth in the NAIA for best pitching record. She allowed four hits and two walks.
GAME 2: BREWTON-PARKER 6, STILLMAN 4
Bewton-Parker took a 2-0 lead through the second inning.
Bailie Seales cut the Barons' lead in half, 2-1, with an RBI walk, but the next three Tigers were retired to leave the bases loaded.
Two more BPC runs scored in the bottom of the third and one in the fourth for Brewton-Parker to build a 6-1 lead.
Ivey Moreland doubled to right to start the top of the fifth inning, followed by a
Madison Bubel double to score pinch runner
Kaila Boyd.
Stillman attempted to rally in the top of the seventh, working the bases loaded with two outs.
Karlie Davidson singled down the left field line to score two, but a strikeout ended the game, leaving two on bases. In total, 10 Tigers were left on base in the game.
