TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Stillman College women's basketball extended its home win streak to five games Thursday night with a 75-39 victory over Thomas University in Southern States Athletic Conference play.
It marked the second time in the last three weeks Stillman's defense held a SSAC opponent to 39 points, matching the program's lowest points allowed in its six-year SSAC history. The 36-point margin of victory is Stillman's second-largest this year against SSAC teams, following a 39-point win over Blue Mountain Christian on Jan. 29.
The Tigers did not allow a field goal in the second quarter Thursday, as Stillman out-scored Thomas 21-1 in the 10-minute span to lead 42-15 at halftime.
Alexandria Haymon led Stillman with 13 points in the first half and finished with 17 in the game. Jamesha Turner and
JaMesha King followed with 12 points and 11 rebounds, respectively. In all, 10 Stillman players scored. King and
KeAsia McKinney each finished with eight rebounds,
Thaniyah Marks had nine boards and eight points.
With three regular season games remaining, Stillman is now out-scoring opponents by 27.6 points per game at home in the second semester. The Tigers host two more home games this year, first a Homecoming battle with Life University on Feb. 17 at noon, and a Senior Night showdown with William Carey University on Feb. 20 at 5:30 p.m. the regular season will conclude Feb. 24 with a trip to the University of Mobile.
