Stillman Blasts Talladega in Run Rule Sweep

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Stillman College completed another series sweep over a future Gulf Coast Athletic Conference foe, winning a pair of run-rule games over Talladega College, 9-1 and 13-1, on Saturday at the Stillman Softball Complex.

The wins moved Stillman to 14-0 on the season, including 4-0 against Talladega and 4-0 against Oakwood University. Stillman is also 2-0 in non-conference action against Southern States Athletic Conference teams, 2-0 against NCAA Division II teams and 2-0 against NCAA Division III teams. 

Lauren Haskins hit 5-for-6 on the day with five runs scored and an RBI on a solo home run. Ivey Moreland was the first to go yard with a three-run home run in Game 1, her first in her return to Stillman. She finished with four RBIs on the day. 

Carolyn Carter drove in six of Stillman's 22 runs, while hitting 3-for-6 on the day. Madison Bubel and Bailie Seales were each 3-for-5 with two RBI. Katelyn Madison had two hits and five RBI, while Taylor Roland also had two hits. Makyleigh Hollinger, Karlie Davidson, Anniston Jones and Moreland each had one hit. 
 
In Game 1, Stillman scored three runs in each the first and second innings before both teams had solo home runs in the fourth inning. The Tigers added two more runs in the sixth inning. Jasmine Wade (4-0) pitched the complete game, allowing one run on four hits. She struck out one and walked none. 

In Game 2, the Tigers answered Talladega's early 1-0 lead with a 13-run bottom of the third inning. Madison, Seales and Carter each had two-RBI doubles. Elisabeth Boso (3-0) allowed one unearned run off four hits and one walk. She struck out four. Faith Byram pitched two scoreless innings in relief. 
Stillman (14-0) will take the upcoming week off before hosting Williams Baptist University in a non-conference doubleheader on Monday, March 4 beginning at noon.
