Stillman Women Fall Short in Home Finale

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Stillman College women's basketball lost a tight Southern States Atheltic Conference contest with William Carey University, 53-50, on Senior Night Tuesday. Raena Suggs and Jamariah Turner led the Tigers with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Kashara Preston hit a 3 late in the second quarter to give Stillman a 25-24 halftime lead after nine lead changes in the first half. Stillman fought back from two possessions down in the third quarter to lead most of the fourth quarter, until William Carey took the lead with a late 9-0 run.
Rose Warren a 3-pointer with just under a minute to play to give William Carey a 50-48 lead. She later sank 1-of-2 free throws to help secure the Crusaders' win and finished with 20 points. Hannah Boykin-Williams drove to the basket to make it a one-point game, 51-50, with 21 seconds left. The Tigers got a stop and the ball back, but a pair of 3s by Boykin-Williams and Raena Suggs were off the mark in the final 20 seconds. A late foul added two WCU free throws by Lauren Rowley with 0.4 second left.
Prior to the game, Stillman honored seniors Farrah Pearson, Alexandria Haymon, Thaniyah Marks, KeAsia McKinney and Jordine Moody. JaMesha King, honored last year before choosing to return for her COVID year, was also playing her final game in Birthright Alumni Hall.
