TUSCALOOSA, ALa. - Stillman College women's basketball never trailed Monday night, as it defeated NCAA Division II rival Miles College, 74-66, in the battle between I-59/20 HBCUs. In only the second regular season meeting since Stillman left NCAA Division II in 2016, it was Stillman's first win over Miles since Feb. 9, 2015, ending a three-game skid against the Golden Bears that spanned.
Jamariah Turner hit a 3 to open the game and went on to lead all players with 20 points. Turner scored seven points in the first three minutes as Stillman took a 9-0 lead. Miles fought back twice early in the second quarter to make it a one-point game, but
Jaida Minter hit a 3-pointer, 24-20, to spark a 7-0 run. The Golden Bears never got closer than seven points in the second half.
Minter joined Turner with four 3-pointers on the night to finish with 16 points.
Raena Suggs scored 12.
Farrah Pearson had eight points and seven rebounds in 26 minutes.
Miles was led by Imeyiah Harris' 13 points and 10 points from each Feliah Greer and Asha Shareef.
Stillman (3-1) will open HBCU Athletic Conference action on Thursday, Nov. 14 on the road at Rust College.
