Tigers Fall at Miles in Women's Basketball Exhibition

FAIRFIELD, Ala. - Stillman College took a mid-season break from regular season action with an exhibition game at NCAA Division II Miles College. The Tigers jumped out to an early lead, but fell to their old rival, 55-49.
After leading 7-4 at the end of the first quarter, Stillman fell behind 20-12 at the half. Miles extended its lead to 36-23 through the third quarter, but Stillman charged back in the final 10 minutes.
Thaniyah Marks scored the Tigers final 10 points of the game to lead Stillman's rally. She used a fast break layup to cut the score to four points, 49-45, with three minutes to play. Twice more she made it a two-possession game down the stretch, but Stillman's depleted roster was unable to complete a comeback.
Marks, a Birmingham native, led Stillman with 19 points, seven rebounds, six blocks and two assists. Farrah Pearson added 11 points, and Alexandra Haymon scored 10 points and had seven rebounds in 11 minutes off the bench. Raena Suggs (five points) and JaMesha King (four points) were the other Tigers to score.
Madison Lee led Miles College with 13 points, while Imani Williams and Feliah Greer each had nine points. Williams and Asha Shareef led the Gold Bears with eight rebounds apiece.
Stillman (7-6) will return to Southern States Athletic Conference action Saturday with a trip to Life University in Marietta, Georgia. Tip time is 11 a.m. CT.
