HUNTSVILLE - After a nearly hour delay to start the match, Stillman College won the first set Monday night at Oakwood University but ended up falling in four set (17-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-21) of non-conference women's volleyball action in the Ambassadors' home opener.
Trailing 9-7 in the first set, Stillman pulled even with an
Aeraeonna Manuel kill and ace. An Oakwood error put Stillman in front before the ambassadors tied the set, 12-12. The Tigers built a 6-0 run to build a lead that led to the eight-point win, 25-17.
Oakwood rallied to win the third set 25-17 and then fought to take sets threw and four each, 25-21.
Raine Patterson matched her career high from Friday with nine kills. Manuel had eight kills. Patterson also had three aces, while she,
Khadeja Bryant and Manuel each had two blocks.
Stillman (0-3) will return home Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. to host Talladega College.
