DECATUR, Ala. – Three Stillman College student-athletes were selected to the 2023 Southern States Athletic Conference Softball All-Tournament Team:
Lexi McCray,
Lauren Haskins and
Katelyn Lankford.
McCray leads Stillman's selections with a 3-1 record and 1.57 ERA through a tournament-best 26.2 innings pitched in four appearances. McCray, a junior from Brookwood, Alabama, pitched a pair of 2-1 complete-game wins both in Game 1 and Game 8 of the tournament over Faulkner University and Blue Mountain Christian University. She then pitched 6.2 innings of relief for a win in the 8-6 Game 10 victory over Faulkner and pitched all six innings, sans one batter, in the SSAC semifinal loss to the University of Mobile.
The wins add McCray to a long list of three-win pitchers in SSAC Tournament history and give her 11 total for the season. Her 26.2 innings pitched are the 10th-most in the SSAC Tournament since 2008.
Haskins, a junior from Alabaster, Alabama, earned her spot on the All-Tournament Team with a two-out, three-run home run to defeat Faulkner, 8-6, in the final elimination game on Friday. She hit .294 for the tournament with three RBI and stole two bases, closing the season with a SSAC and Stillman single-season record 51 stolen bases.
Lankford, a freshman from Hueytown, Alabama, was clutch with a pinch-hit, walk-off single in Game 1 to lift Stillman past Faulkner. She went on to hit .400 with four RBIs, including two game-winning RBIs and a two-run home run.
Middle Georgia State University's Alexis Cosgrove was named Championship MVP after hitting .455 with five extra base hits, including a home run and double in the title game. She had three RBIs. Middle Georgia also had Emma Raulerson, Lauren Heath and pitcher Beth Eddins selected to the team.
The remaining members of the team were from the University of Mobile: Kristen Black, Caitlin McRee and Brinkley Goff.
