Stillman Softball Sweeps Blue Mountain for 30th Win

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Stillman College softball collected win No. 30 on the season Wednesday afternoon as the Tigers swept Blue Mountain Christian University in the Southern States Athletic Conference Series of the Week. The 4-1 and 4-2 wins extend Stillman's win streak to 10 games.

It is only the second time in program history Stillman College has won 30 games in softball. The first was a 35-win season in 2012.

GAME 1: STILLMAN 4, BLUE MOUNTAIN 1

Lauren Haskins manufactured the Tigers' first run in the first inning with a bunt single and her 41st stolen base of the season. A Katelynn Madison sac bunt set up a Katelyn Lankford sacrifice fly to give Stillman a 1-0 lead.

The Tigers expanded their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the third. Haskins started the inning with a double to left field and scored when Madison reached on an error. With one out, another error on a sac bunt allowed Madison to score. Bailie Seales then delivered a double to center to score the fourth run of the game.

Blue Mountain avoided the shutout with a run in the sixth inning. Sindle Williams tripled to start the inning and scored on a two-out Mallory Jo Mitchell single up the middle.

Haksins led Stillman with a 2-for-3 game at the plate. Seales and Mackenzie Kirby each had one hit.

Lexi McCray (7-5) recorded the win through six innings of work, allowing one run off seven hits and one walk. Jasmine Wade closed out the seventh for her second save.

GAME 2: STILLMAN 4, BLUE MOUNTAIN 2

Lauren Haskins once again led off the Tigers' first inning with a bunt single. She moved to third on a hit-and-run sac bunt by Katelynn Madison, setting up a squeeze bunt from Brooklyn Pennington to put the Tigers up 1-0.

In the bottom of the third, Pennington singled in a run and Bailie Seales walked in a run with the bases loaded to make it a 3-0 game. Taylor Roland made it a 4-0 game with an RBI single in the fourth inning, scoring Carolyn Carter who doubled to start the inning.

Blue Mountain threatened with a two-run top of the fifth, scoring a pair of unearned runs on three-straight, two-out singles. Lane Thaxton and Julianna Ingram had the RBIs.

Faith Byram (9-1) recorded the win, allowing two unearned runs off nine hits through five innings. Elisabeth Boso pitched perfect for the final 1.2 innings to earn her second save.

Roland had two hits in the game, while Madison Bubel, Katelyn Lankford, Haskins, Pennington and Carter each had one.

NEXT: Stillman (30-8, 12-6) will now be off until next weekend when it travels to No. 19 William Carey University on April 14 and No. 15 University of Mobile on April 15.
