MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Stillman College senior JaMesha King was named to the Southern States Athletic Conference Barnes & Noble College Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete Team, the conference office announced March 30. She is the first Stillman selection to the SSAC Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete Team.
The team honors seven student-athletes who are considered the top in their sport for both academics and athletics, as voted on by conference sports information directors. To be eligible, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above in both academic and athletic standings, must be a starter or important reserve having played in 50% of competitions and must have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA.
King, a senior forward from Panama City, Florida, holds a 3.8 GPA as a criminal justice major. She led Stillman defensively with 7.3 rebounds per game, 27 total blocks and 40 steals through 27 games played. Offensively, King averaged 9.9 points while shooting a team-best 50% from the floor.
For her two-year career at Stillman, she totaled 459 points, 356 rebounds, 76 steals and 65 blocked shots, while shooting 46.9% over 51 career games.
In addition to athletics, King is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., and served as an Upward Bound resident assistant in the summer of 2022.
