MONTGOMERY, Ala. –  Stillman College freshman Faith Byram was named SSAC Softball Pitcher of the Week on March 27 after recording two conference wins against NAIA Top 20 competition last week. 

Byram earned her first career SSAC honor after recording a 0.93 ERA through two complete-game wins against No. 19 William Carey University and No. 10 University of Mobile. 

Byram allowed only two earned runs, four total, off 10 hits through 15 innings of work. She allowed two walks and struck out five. No batter faced during the week collected more than one hit off Byram.

The main player who did damage through the weekend to Byram was William Carey's Carley Kidder, who earned SSAC Player of the Week honors for the second time in her career. Kidder was only 1-for-3 against Byram but drove in all three runs in the Tigers' 4-3 win over WCU on March 23. Overall fo the week, Kidder hit .333 with eight hits, 11 RBI and five runs scored while helping WCU to a 4-2 week. 

Byram is the third Stillman player to collect SSAC weekly honors this season. Lexi McCray was the SSAC Pitcher of the Week in Week 1 and Madison Bubel was SSAC Player of the Week in Week 3. 

Stillman joins William Carey as the only team to have multiple pitchers earn SSAC Pitcher of the Week honors this season. 

Byram is now 8-1 on the season and has helped Stillman to a 20-8 overall record, its first 20-win season since 2015. The Tigers are 6-6 in SSAC action and sit in fourth position in the conference standings. 

Stillman will host MUW in non-conference action on Wednesday, March 29 for a 2 p.m. doubleheader, and then host SSAC foe Faulkner University on Saturday, April 1 at 2 p.m.
