MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Stillman College's
Madison Bubel was named the Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday, after hitting .714 with seven RBIs on Saturday in Stillman's run rule sweep of University of Tennessee Southern. It is her first SSAC honor.
With the two wins, 11-2 and 8-0, Stillman improved to 11-1 on the season.
Bubel, a junior from Alabaster, Alabama, hit 5-for-7 in the doubleheader with a 1.429 slugging percentage, aided by an RBI triple and a three-run home run.
The performance improved her batting average to .379 through 12 games, hitting 11-of-29. It was her second triple and first home run as a Stillman Tiger. She now has 13 RBI and 13 runs scored this season. Defensively, Bubel had eight assists at third base in the two games, tying her collegiate high for a doubleheader. Â
Her seven RBIs in a doubleheader is also a collegiate career high through 104 career games at the NJCAA and NAIA levels. Her previous high was five RBIs as  a freshman for Marion Military Institute against Shelton State Community College in March 2019.
During her time at MMI, Bubel was a .405 hitter (104-257) through 92 games played from 2019-2021, while compiling 59 RBI and 36 extra base hits (26 doubles, two triples, eight home runs).
In her last two seasons at Thompson High school, Bubel hit over .460 with more than 100 RBIs to earn Shelby County Reporter All-County honors in both 2017 and 2018.
This is her first season on the field with Stillman after sitting out the 2022 season.
