Stillman Softball Moves to 9-1 after a 3-1 Weekend

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Stillman College Softball went 3-1 on the weekend, following up a split at Point University on Saturday with a doubleheader sweep at home against Rust College on Sunday.

The Tigers are now 9-1 through 10 games.

STILLMAN SPLITS WITH POINT

Helped by a two-run single by Brookyln Pennington, Stillman took a 4-1 lead in the fifth inning at Point. However, a four-run rally by Point snapped the Tigers' six-game win streak. On a two-RBI single to center, Anniston Jones applied a diving tag but the runner was ruled safe to give Point the walk-off win. Lexi McCray (3-1) was charged with the loss, allowing only two earned runs.

The Tigers bounced back from the loss with a 3-0 win. Faith Byram (2-0) pitched the shutout, allowing two walks and seven hits. Brooklyn Pennington and Madison Bubel each drove in runs in the third inning and Lauren Haskins scored a run in the fifth.

TIGERS SWEEP RUST COLLEGE

Stillman produced a 16-0 win in Game 1 and 22-1 win in Game 2 of the doubleheader, scoring the most runs and largest win margins since a combined 41-0 doubleheader shutout (22-0, 19-0) of Rust in February 2019.

In Game 1, Stillman posted a six-run first inning and five runs in both the second and third inning to put the run rule in place.

Jasmine Wade (1-0) collected the win in her Stillman pitching debut. She allowed three hits through four scoreless innings and struck out four.

Katelynn Madison and Anniston Jones led Stillman with three RBI. Carolyn Carter drove in two runs in the first inning.

Game 2 saw more power from the Tigers' offense, including a Lauren Haskins grand slam in the third inning. Stillman scored 12 in the third to break open a 3-1 game. Haskins drove in five runs in the game and six in the doubleheader.

Elisabeth Boso (2-0) recorded the win. Her only run allowed came in the first inning, but her first hit did not come until the fourth.

Madison Bubel gave Stillman a 2-1 lead with a sac pop up in the bottom of the first inning. She hit 2-for-3 in the game.

Mackenzie Kirby hit 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Katelyn Lankford also hit 3-for-4.

Bailie Seales, Brooklyn Pennington, Erristen Evans and Sara Kate Nichols each drove in two runs.
NEXT: Stillman will host the University of Tennessee Southern on Saturday, Feb. 25 for a doubleheader.
