Stillman Sinks Mobile, 69-35

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Stillman College women's basketball opened 2023 with a 65-39 Southern States Athletic Conference win at home in Birthright Alumni Hall on Thursday night. 
  
Four Tigers scored in double digits, led by Laneja Warner's 16 points, followed by Farrah Pearson's 15 points. Jamesha King added 13 points and 10 rebounds for her second-straight double-double, while Kelcie Smith came on strong in the fourth quarter to score 14 points. 
 
Stillman shot 47.4% in the third quarter to help pull away from the visiting Rams and finished with a 38.3 field goal percentage in the game. The defense held Mobile to 22% shooting from the floor, including 10% (2-of-18) from 3-point range. 
 
The Tigers led from start to finish, despite Mobile making it a one-point game, 10-9, on a Miya Kimber layup four minutes into the second quarter. Stillman responded with a 13-2 run to lead 22-11 at halftime. The lead extended to 46-25 after three quarters.  
 
Stillman (10-4, 2-3 SSAC) will travel to Middle Georgia State University this weekend for an 11 a.m. CST game on Saturday, Jan. 7.
