BABSON PARK, Fla. - Stillman College women's basketball remained unbeaten Saturday, knocking off No. 6 Southeastern University, 71-69, in the SSAC/Sun Challenge for the program's first known victory over a Top 10 nationally ranked team. The Tigers are now 3-0 to start the season for the second-straight year.
The win is Stillman's second over a Top 25 team in the last 15 games, including a 53-52 win at No. 24 Loyola in January. After four ties,
Jamesha King hit a 3-pointer with 23 seconds left in the first quarter to give Stillman its first lead, 12-11. There were a total of seven ties and four lead changes in the first half.
Southeastern built a four-point, 18-14, late in the first half, but Stillman responded with a 9-0 run. After free throws from

Laneja Warner,
Imani Wimbish-Gay hit a layup off a Fire turnover to tie it at 18.
Alexandria Haymon then stole the ball and scored to give Stillman the lead, before she assisted a Wimbish-Gay 3-pointer to give the Tigers a 23-18 lead with 2:13 left in the half.
The Fire turned up the pressure in the final two minutes, tying the game, 23-23, on an Anja Knoflach 3-pointer with 35 seconds left, and then Raegan Linster hit a 3 to send the game into halftime with SEU on top, 26-23.
Amaria Strong gave Stilman its first lead of the second half, 32-31, with 6:38 to play in the third quarter.
Farrah Pearson followed with a 3-pointer to help the Tigers keep their lead. Stillman led most of the third quarter, but Southeastern pushed back in front to lead 52-48 at the end of the quarter.
Strong once again regained Stillman's lead, 62-60, with less than five minutes to play in the game. Southeastern tied the game three times, but Stillman fought off the Fire's attempt to reflash. King grabbed the rebound off a missed 3-pointer and put it back in to give the Tigers' a 68-66 lead. Wimbish-Gay grabbed a board on the other end and Strong scored a jumper to give Stillman a two-possession lead with 30 seconds left.
Linster answered with another 3 to make it a one-point game, 70-69, and finished with 25 points. Southeastern fouled multiple times to send Stillman to free throw line. While the first two attempts were missed, the Tigers maintained possession, and Wimbish-Gay hit 1-of-2 free throws with 17 seconds left.
Linster attempted to tie the game late, grabbing a missed 3-pointer with two seconds left, but her putback attempt missed for the Tiger victory.
King led Stillman with 15 points, four blocks and four offensive rebounds to score in double figures for the third-straight game. She shot 62.5% from the floor. Warner followed with 12 points and Haymon scored 11.
Wimbish-Gay led Stillman with six rebounds, all on defense, and scored nine points. Strong also scored nine points.
Linster posted a double-double for Southeastern, adding 11 rebounds to her 25 points. Josselin Greer and Knoflach each scored 12 points for the Fire.
Stillman (3-0) will continue its three-week road swing Monday night with a trip to Laurel, Mississippi to play at Southeastern Baptist. The Tigers will then travel north to Holly Springs, Mississippi on Thursday and Friday for games against Tougaloo College and No. 21 Rust College.
