Stillman Cruises to 4-0 with 62-point Victory

LAUREL, Miss. -- Stillman College women's basketball cruised to a 62-point non-conference victory Monday night at Southeastern Baptist College, 89-27 - the largest margin of victory for Stillman since 2004.

Riding a wave of double-figure scoring performances, Jamesha King scored the first six points of the game to pace Stillman to an 8-0 start and 21-5 first quarter lead. King scored 10 points in the first half and finished the night with 16 points on a perfect 8-of-8 shooting. She had two steals, which she turned into fastbreak layups, two blocks and five rebounds in nine minutes of action.

Stillman nearly doubled its lead by halftime, 43-14.

Jordine Moody led the Tigers in the second half, scoring 11 of her 16 total points. She connected on four 3-pointers. Kelcie Smith also scored 11 points in the second half and finished with 13.

Ke'Asia McKinney posted a double-double 12 points and 17 rebounds off the bench in her Stillman debut. Her impact on defense was met immediately when entered the game midway through the first quarter and drew a charge on her first play, which led to Stillman points. Desiree Tyner also posted a double-double off the bench with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Stillman led by 47 points after three quarters of action, 66-19. SBC did not score its 20th point of the game until about 7:35 left to play in the game.

Southern Baptist was held to a 12.2% field goal percentage in the game, including 0-of-8 from the floor in the third quarter. Miah Hall and Mahogandy McNulty scored eight and seven points, respectively to lead the Lady Chargers.

The 62-point margin of victory matched a 102-40 win at Oakwood University in February 2004 as the largest margin of victory this century. Stillman has a 71-point win to its name in November 1998 over Agnes Scott and an 84-point win over Fisk in February 1998.

The Tigers' 89 points are the most scored and 27 points are the fewest allowed in the Alico Dunk era of coaching the Tigers. It was the second time in the Dunk era for a Stillman defense to hold a team below 30 points and only the eighth time Stillman has done so since 1995-1996.

Stillman (4-0) will return to Mississippi on Thursday, Nov. 10 to meet Tougaloo College at 5:30 p.m. in the Rust College Dr. Ishmell Edwards Founder's Day Classic. Stillman will meet No. 21 Rust on Friday at 5 p.m.
