A Native of Pensacola, Fla., Hines is entering his ninth season as an assistant at Stillman College. After spending eight seasons with the men’s program, Hines takes over as the Associate Head Coach for the Lady Tigers.  During his first three seasons on the sideline, the Tigers saw big improvements to their win totals. In his first year, the team won six more games than it had the previous season. Year two saw seven more wins than the previous year’s total. The school also received its first ever top 25 ranking in the NCAA Division II polls. The following season the Tigers had a 10 win improvement with a 24-8 record, and advanced to the 2011 NCAA South Regional Championship game.  Since that year, the Tigers have at least 18 wins per season.

 

His duties include: recruiting, on-court coaching working with the guards and post players, opponent scouting and film breakdown, along with other duties assigned by the head coach.

 

Hines has helped recruit and develop 11 all conference players and 21 academic honor roll players as well. The Tigers have graduated 80% of the players that have stayed with the program more than one year since 2008.

 

Hines graduated from Stillman with Honors in 2008 with a degree in Health and Physical Education. He was a vital piece on the 2005-2006 Stillman basketball team that won the first SIAC Tournament Championship in school history.

 

Prior to Stillman, Hines played played one season at Pensacola Junior College, where he received his Associates Degree in General Studies. He prepped at Woodham High School in Pensacola where he was a four-year starter on the varsity team.  Woodham won back-to-back district championships in 2002 and 2003 and the FHSAA 4A State Championship.

 

Hines has two sons: Dontreal and DeKaylen.
