Stillman College Head Baseball Coach Rashad Webster Selected to Coach in the 2026 Negro League Prep Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Stillman College Head Baseball Coach Rashad Webster has been selected as a head coach for the 2026 Negro League Prep Classic, scheduled for June 19 at Hamtramck Stadium in Hamtramck, Michigan, one of the country's most significant Negro Leagues venues.

"I am honored to be part of this event highlighting black excellence on the baseball field on Juneteenth," said Webster. "This is an outstanding opportunity for these young men to showcase their talents in front of collegiate and professional coaches. Most importantly in their hometown, in front of the people that support them most."

Webster will lead Team Ron Teasley, joining coaches and baseball figures from across the nation at an event that honors the history of Negro League baseball while showcasing top high school talent.

"I'm excited to continue expanding the footprint of Stillman Baseball across the country and growing the wonderful relationship I have with baseball in Detroit; continuing to network with the trailblazers of our baseball community to enhance the growth of our game," said Webster.

Last month, Webster served as head coach for the HBCU Athletic Conference squad at the Minority Prospects HBCU Final College Showdown in Montgomery, Alabama.

The selection follows Webster's first season at the helm of the Stillman baseball program. He guided the Tigers to a 24-18 overall record and a 14-6 conference mark, leading Stillman to an HBCUAC East Division runner-up finish.

Stillman also emerged as one of the NAIA's top offensive teams. The Tigers posted a .343 batting average, ranking ninth nationally, and led the HBCUAC in offensive production. The program also recorded consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time since 2013-14.

"Coach Webster's selection to the Negro League Prep Classic reflects the respect he has earned throughout the baseball community," said Terrance Whittle, Stillman College Director of Athletics. "His work developing student-athletes and building a competitive program continues to open doors for our institution on a national stage."

The 2026 Negro League Prep Classic will bring together elite high school players, former professional athletes, college coaches, and others connected to the game. Webster's appointment adds another national honor to a growing Stillman program.

The event will be held at historic Hamtramck Stadium, located at 3201 Dan Street in Hamtramck, Michigan.

Hamtramck Stadium served as a community sports venue from 1930 to 1997, hosting baseball, football, soccer, softball and other athletic events at the high school, amateur, semi-professional and professional levels. During the 1930s, it was home to the Negro Leagues' Detroit Stars and Detroit Wolves, earning recognition for its role in African American baseball history and a place on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.
