Tiger Bats Come Alive in 8-0 Win to Sweep Dega

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Runs came late, but when they came, it was enough to help the Stillman College softball team put away the Talladega College Tornadoes 8-0 in six innings. The Sunday afternoon win earned the Tigers an HBCU Athletic Conference series sweep, their fifth consecutive.

After three scoreless innings, Stillman erupted in the fourth to take control. Addison Seale and Gracie Fjeldstad both scored on Addison Nuspl's two-run single to get the Tigers on the board. Nuspl later came home on Alex Erwin's RBI bunt single, and Erwin scored on a passed ball as Lily Stone aggressively advanced on the bases. Avary Lumpkin capped the inning with an RBI single to bring home Stone, giving Stillman a 5-0 lead.

Stillman added to the advantage in the fifth when Makynli Kidd scored on a Talladega error, extending the lead to 6-0.

The Tigers continued to apply pressure in the sixth. Erwin scored again on Lumpkin's RBI single after advancing into scoring position, and Stone later crossed the plate on Anna Sullivan's sacrifice fly to push the margin to 8-0 for the run rule win.

Stillman's baserunning played a key role throughout, highlighted by three stolen bases from Erwin along with additional steals from Stone and Nuspl that consistently put runners in scoring position.

Erwin led the offense with three hits and two runs scored, while Lumpkin added two hits and two RBIs, and Nuspl drove in two runs in the pivotal fourth inning.

In the circle, Karli Crocker was dominant, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just three hits and striking out six.
