Stillman Drops Two at NFCA Leadoff Classic

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Stillman College dropped two games to perennial powerhouses on Friday during Day 1 of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NAIA Leadoff Classic at South Commons Complex, home of the NAIA Softball Championship. The Tigers dropped the first game, 10-5, to the University of Mobile, before losing to Campbellsville University, 8-0, in the nightcap. Both teams are receiving votes in the preseason coaches poll.

GAME 1: MOBILE 10, STILLMAN 5

Mobile took a 5-0 lead through the first two innings, but consecutive doubles by Alex Erwin, Lily Stone and Avary Lumpkin helped Stillman pull within two runs, 5-3, in the third inning.

The Rams added two more runs in the fourth inning and three in the sixth inning to lead 10-3. Stillman loaded the bases in the top of the seventh and pushed across two runs on a bases-loaded walk by Anna Sullivan and sac fly to right by JaLeah Orr

Stone and Lumpkin each had two hits in the game, while Sullivan, Erwin and Gracie Fjeldstad each had one. Karli Crocker recorded the loss in the circle.
