TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Stillman College baseball will open the 2026 season Saturday, Jan. 31, facing Claflin University at 11:15 a.m. in the Willie Mays Classic.
Stillman's originally scheduled season opener against Faulkner University on Jan. 27 was canceled due to safety concerns during travel.
The Tigers enter the spring coming off a strong 2025 campaign, finishing 28-22 overall and 21-9 in HBCU Athletic Conference play. Stillman posted a 15-9 record at home and went 10-8 away from home, establishing itself as one of the league's steadiest teams across the season.
With that foundation and a talented returning core, Stillman enters 2026 as a team to watch as the program looks to build on last year's momentum.
Stillman begins a new chapter under first-year head coach Rashad Webster, who believes the pieces are in place for continued growth as the Tigers open the season this weekend.
"2026 could be a breakout season for Stillman College Baseball," Webster said. "We're building on the strongest win total in years. We're anchored by seasoned leaders and enriched by youthful talent and are prepared to maintain the commitment to our process of winning each day one pitch at a time. Always looking to be better today than we were yesterday."
Saturday's matchup against Claflin will be the first opportunity for the Tigers to set the tone with clean defense, competitive pitching, and quality at-bats as they build toward conference play.
